In response to our request for information on Famine evictions, Neil Moxham has shared notes which were taken when researching his own family’s connection to the townland of Killenboy in County Longford. The notes are very specific to this one townland, but serve as a useful sample of the various King-Harman Collections which survive across a number of institutions. Their meticulous estate rent books exist from at least the 1830s and cover a wide area of County Longford as they were the largest landowning family in the county. In the case of this one townland, Neil believes that the most telling part is not the carefully-taken pen-and-ink inventories, but rather the scribbled pencil notes sometimes added to a name.
