As the Irish Famine Eviction Project continues thousands of names of those evicted from the land are compiled, all of which offer fresh insights into the impact of the Famine at a local level. Newspaper reporters and commentators often included personal details of those percieved to have been harshly treated during the process of eviction. These included the Rice family evicted to from Lord Roden’s estate near Dundlak, county Louth in January 1851. But just what what happened to Joseph Rice & grandchild? Did they survive?
